Citi Appoints Marc Luet as Citi Country Officer for Japan

Tokyo – Citi announced today that it has appointed Marc Luet as Citi Country Officer for Japan, effective January 1, 2023, subject to legal and local regulatory approval. Luet will also serve, subject to regulatory approval, as Representative Director, President and CEO of Citigroup Global Markets Japan Inc., Representative in Japan, Branch Manager and CEO of Citibank, N.A., Tokyo Branch, and President and CEO of Citigroup Japan Holdings G.K.

Luet will report to Peter Babej, CEO of Asia Pacific and a member of Citi's Executive Management Team. He will also continue to be a member of the Asia Pacific Operating Committee.

Lee Waite, who has been in the position since June 2018, will retire from the position but will stay on as a Senior Advisor for Citi Japan based out of New York where Citi headquarters is located.

Luet is currently Citi Country Officer (CCO) for Australia and Cluster Head for Australia & New Zealand and he will continue in these roles until regulatory approvals are obtained and a successor is appointed. Prior to that, he was Cluster Head for Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. He also served as Cluster Head of Central & Eastern Europe and CCO for Russia. Luet first joined Citi in 1991, taking on various roles across the organization in Europe and North America over the next ten years. He re-joined the bank in 2010 as Head of Consumer and Commercial Banking for EMEA. Luet holds a degree in business administration from Pantheon-Sorbonne University in France, Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, as well as an M.B.A. from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
